How to Make an Air Filled Balloon Arch
A balloon arch is a beautiful, eye catching addition to a party or event. While most balloon arches are made with the use of helium, you can make a balloon arch in which the balloons are simply filled with air. This type of arch can save you the expense of renting or buying a helium tank. With a little time and preparation, you will be able to add a customized balloon arch to your yard or home for a special occasion. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Blow up the balloons. If you want to save yourself a lot of time and energy, use an electric air pump. Use 72 balloons of one color and 20 balloons of another color.
-
2
Tie the ends of two balloons together to form a pair. Do this with all of the 72 balloons so that you have 36 pairs of "Color A."
-
-
3
Align the ends of one pair of balloons together with the ends of another pair of balloons. Bend one balloon over and under the ends of the other balloons to form a "quad" grouping of balloons. Continue doing this with all 36 pairs so that you have 18 quads.
-
4
Repeat the same process of forming pairs and then quads with the 20 balloons so that you have 5 quads of "Color B."
-
5
Tie one end of the fishing line around the center of a Color A balloon quad.
-
6
Attach another set of Color A quads to the fishing line by first wrapping two balloons in the quad over the line. Then twist the other two balloons around each other once and then across the joined section with the other two balloons.
-
7
Attach three sets of Color A quads to the fishing line before attaching a Color B quad. Use the same method to attach the Color B quads to the line. Repeat this pattern of three Color A quads followed by one Color B quad until you've used all of your balloons.

Convert the balloon fishing line to a vertical arch by one of several methods. Use florist ties to secure the arch in multiple places to an existing trellis or gazebo. Suspend the arch from a door way by inserting several cup hooks from the top and sides of the door way and tying the arch to the hooks with florist ties. You also can drape the arch over a tall piece of furniture.
