Instructions

  1. Tops of Cabinets

    • 1

Line the tops of your cabinets with old newspaper, to make dusting easier. Throw away old newspapers when the paper becomes too dusty.

    • 2

Place the baskets on top of the cabinets in a decorative arrangement.

    • 3

Fill areas around your baskets with vines or greenery of your choice. End cabinets are an ideal place to drape greenery down the sides.

    • 4

Place themed decorations in between the baskets. This can include cake stands, ceramics, steins, pottery or empty food tins.

    • 5

Add lighting to enhance and draw attention to your display, giving the room an enticing glow. Track lighting is a popular choice, as is hidden LED lighting.

    Flat Wall Above the Cabinet

    • 6

Install molding or decorative wood trim where the wall and ceiling meet or frame your cabinets with trim. You may choose to install trim to both areas when working with a flush wall above the cabinets. Select trim molding that will match the design of the cabinets. Using narrow trim will simply accent the cabinets, while a wider, bolder trim will give a more dramatic look and offer a dimensional appeal.

    • 7

Hang decorative plates, pictures or other decor on the flat wall above your cabinets using hangers. Place the hangers on the wall so the decorative items hang flat against the wall's surface. Doing this will enhance an otherwise dull space and add character.

    • 8

Hang flat or oval baskets on wall hangers.

    • 9

Arrange faux plants and vines to look like they are growing from the back of the baskets. Allow the vines to cascade down from the sides of the baskets and flow around the top of the cabinets. Ensure the vines do not hinder the movement of the cabinet doors.
