Use personalized bangles to accessorize any outfit.

A personalized bangle will take under an hour to make, but you can enjoy wearing it for years to come. Not only is making your own bangle less expensive than buying a decorated one, you can customize it to match your personal style and wardrobe. If you have a plain plastic bangle, you can enhance it with a variety of basic craft items. Hand-decorated bangles also make thoughtful birthday and holiday gifts for fashionista friends and family members.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 2-by-24-inch piece grosgrain ribbon with scissors. Choose a ribbon color to reflect a specific outfit you plan to wear with it, or a gift recipient's favorite hue.

    • 2

Place a line of hot glue on one end of the ribbon. Press the ribbon end onto the inside of a 1-inch-wide bangle.

    • 3

Wrap the ribbon around the bangle, overlapping the edges as you go, until the entire bracelet is covered. Place a line of hot glue on the opposite ribbon end and press it onto the inside of the bangle to create a secure hold.

    • 4

Enhance the ribbon-wrapped bangle with small craft items, such as flat-backed gems or rhinestones for a glamorous look. Create a themed style by using beads in whimsical shapes, such as hearts, stars, seashells or cats. Place dabs of hot glue on the backs of the gems, rhinestones or beads, and press them onto the bangle at the desired locations.
