How to Connect a WordPress Banner Tracking to Google Analytics
Google Analytics offers Web publishers advanced data about the demographics of visitors to websites and the behavior of visitors as they navigate your site. Google Analytics is free and offers immediate value. You can only install Google Analytics with a self-hosted WordPress installation, which means you cannot track a free site hosted by WordPress.com. If you do host your own WordPress site, the simplest method to track it with Google Analytics is to use a free plugin entitled Google Analytics for WordPress.

Sign up for a Google Analytics account. If you already have a Google or Gmail account, use that to create your Analytics account, if you want them linked.

Make note of the tracking code that Google provides for your Analytics account. The tracking code will be a sequence of letters and numbers beginning with the letters UA. You can find it when you sign into your Analytics account and select the "Check Status" link from the far right of your profile.

Install the Google Analytics for WordPress plugin from within the WordPress admin interface for your website. Find the Plugins header in the left column and then select the "Add New" link and type "Google Analytics for WordPress" in the search field to locate and install this plugin.

Open the Google Analytics for WordPress plugin configuration settings. The configuration settings for this plugin are available through your WordPress administrative interface. Look for the Google Analytics link under the Settings header in the left column.

Enter the your unique Google Analytics tracking code into the Google Analytics for WordPress Configuration screen. Check the box to manually enter your UA code and type or paste your unique code in the appropriate field.
