How to Attach the KitchenAid Shredder Attachment
KitchenAid stand mixers are extremely versatile appliances that can be used for everything from mixing batter to grinding meat once you choose the proper blade or attachment. Some blades and attachments are sold along with the mixers and others are sold separately. The RVSA shredder and slicer attachment is sold separately, and it enables you to use your KitchenAid stand mixer for shredding and slicing vegetables and cheese as well as fruits, nuts and even chocolate. No tools are required to mount the RVSA attachment on your mixer, and the process is indeed very simple. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

-
1
Turn off the stand mixer and unplug the power cord.
-
2
Turn the attachment knob at the right front of the head of your mixer toward you (counterclockwise) until you can pull out the metallic hub cover to its left and expose the hub opening.
-
-
3
Insert the power shaft at the end of the RVSA attachment housing into the hub opening so that the square end of the shaft lines up with the square socket of the hub. Rotate the attachment as necessary until the pin on the shaft slides into the notch on the inside of the hub. Press the attachment as far as possible into the hub once it is fully aligned, but do not force it.
-
4
Tighten the attachment knob as far as possible.
-
5
Attach the slotted pinwheel blade holder to either the fine or the coarse shredder cone blade provided with the attachment. Line up the protrusions on the holder with the cutouts on the bottom of the cone and turn the cone counterclockwise until it is firmly seated on the holder.
-
6
Insert the blade and holder assembly so that the shaft of the holder fits into the square hub socket of the mixer. Lift up the latch at the right of the cone assembly and turn it to fit it securely into the square socket.
-
7
Lower the latch. Pull on the cone assembly to make sure the assembly is locked into place before you plug in your mixer, turn it on and begin using the shredder.
