How to Make a Diaper Pyramid
A diaper pyramid, also known as a diaper cake, is a decorative piece used in baby showers that can serve as a centerpiece. Besides the visual appeal, there is a much more practical purpose to the diaper pyramid: the mother-to-be can break it down and use the diapers when her baby arrives. Even though you can pay to have a diaper pyramid made, the truth is that you can tackle the task yourself for much cheaper without sacrificing the quality of the pyramid. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 35 newborn sized diapers
- Rubber bands
- 8 oz. baby bottle
- 4 oz. baby bottle
- 1-inch wide ribbon
- Scissors
- Small baby accessories (small stuffed animals, teething rings, binkies, baby spoons)
- Thin ribbon
Instructions
-
-
1
Roll 35 diapers into tight rolls, securing with a rubber band on each end.
-
2
Create seven bundles of five diapers each, standing them up against each other and binding with a large rubber band. Arrange the seven bundles evenly around the perimeter of an 8-ounce baby bottle.
-
-
3
Wrap enough 1-inch wide ribbon around the middle of the entire diaper group, tying into a knot tight enough to hold the diapers together. Tie the ribbon in a bow around the knot and cut the excess away using scissors. This will make the first tier of the pyramid. Set it aside.
-
4
Use the same method to create a second tier, using 20 diapers instead of 35 to create four groups of five diapers with the rubber bands.
-
5
Arrange the four groups of five diapers directly on top of the first tier, around the remaining space of the 8-ounce baby bottle. Bind the second tier using the 1-inch wide ribbon.
-
6
Roll up and bind six more diapers. Arrange them around the perimeter of a 4-ounce baby bottle and secure with the 1-inch wide ribbon around the center.
-
7
Place the third tier on top of the diaper pyramid.
-
8
Place decorative baby toys and necessities, such as small stuffed animals, teething rings, binkies and baby spoons, over the tiers and secure with thin ribbon.
