How to Block Multi-Spam

Receiving spam from multiple users is not only annoying, it also clutters up your email inbox. Most email service providers have a built-in spam feature that automatically filters incoming messages. If the filter detects that a message is spam, it is automatically routed to a junk mail folder. The message never reaches your inbox. Spam filters are not perfect. Occasionally, a message will slip through the cracks. For those messages that slip through, you can manually block them from slipping through again.

Instructions

  1. Third-Party Email Providers

    • 1

Log into the email account, for which you are receiving spam.

    • 2

Select or open the email message that is considered spam.

    • 3

Click the button labeled “Spam” or “Mark As Spam” -- exact wording varies by email provider.

    • 4

Click the “Filters” or “Email Filters” option. Enter the email address of the spammer. Select the option to send all email from the spammer's email address to the trash or spam folder. This blocks all future emails from the sender.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for each email address you receive spam.

    Outlook Express Spam

    • 6

Open the Outlook Express email program.

    • 7

Click “Tools” from the top navigation bar. Select “Message Rules.”

    • 8

      Click the “Blocked Senders” tab.

    • 9

Click “Add.” Type the spam sender's email address into the designated box. If the spam sender keeps changing his email address, consider entering only the domain portion of the address. This blocks all email messages sent from that domain. For example, instead of entering “spamsender1@spamsendersdomain.com” only enter “@spamsendersdomain.com.”

    • 10

Click “OK” to save and apply your settings.

Tips & Warnings

  • Domain blocking also blocks messages from non-spammers who use the same domain. Only block an entire domain name if you are certain that you do not want to receive messages from anyone using that domain.
