How to Fashion Knit a Headband With Flowers

Instructions

Cast on seven stitches.

Knit the first two stitches of the second row, purl five and knit the last two.

Continue in this manner until the headband fits around your head comfortably. Bind off all stitches.
Flowers

Cast on three stitches.

Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, knit one and then turn your work over. Slip the first stitch over to the other needle without working it and knit two.

Knit into the front and back of the first stitch and then knit to the end of the row.

Knit into the front and back of the first stitch, knit three and then turn your work over. Slip the first stitch over to the other needle without working it and knit to the end of the row.

Repeat steps 2 through 7 four more times to create the flower and then bind off all stitches.

Thread a new piece of yarn through the tapestry needle, and sew the bind-off and cast-on edges together to shape the flower. Weave the needle in and out around the center hole to close up the flower.

Repeat the steps to create the desired number of flowers for the headband.

Position the first flower in place on the headband and thread a new piece of yarn through the tapestry needle. Sew into place by guiding the needle up through the headband and the underside of the flower's center and back down. Continue in this manner until the flower is firmly attached. Repeat for any additional flowers.

Thread a new piece of yarn through the tapestry needle and sew the cast-on and bind-off edges of the headband together.

Cast on fewer or more stitches for a slimmer or wider headband.
The headband also can be worked in garter stitch, where you knit every row, or in stockinette stitch, where you alternate between one knit row and one purl row.
