How to Make Your Own Bouquet of Spider Mums

Spider mums are a flower from the chrysanthemum family and can be found in many different colors. White spider mums are often used in wedding bouquets. The mums, or pompoms as they are sometimes called due to the shape of the petals, symbolize strength and optimism. Create a beautiful bouquet highlighting just the spider mums. To incorporate other colors into the bouquet, use light or pastel flowers and stick to one or two other flowers.

Instructions

    • 1

Trim the stems of the spider mums so they are 8 to 10 inches long. This will give you enough length to fully wrap and hold the bouquet while still showing off the entire flower.

    • 2

Cut and add any filler flowers that you want. Orchids, roses, lilac and greenery are all fillers that look nice with spider mums.

    • 3

Check that the bouquet is arranged to your preference and hold the stems tightly together.

    • 4

Wrap floral tape around the stems just under the flower to secure the bouquet.

    • 5

Cut a 6 foot length of ribbon to wrap the bouquet.

    • 6

Pin one end of the ribbon to the top of the bouquet stems. Wrap the ribbon around the stems until you reach 1 inch from the bottom then wrap it back to the top.

    • 7

Secure with 2 to 3 more pins to finish the bouquet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wrap the bouquet in a ribbon color that matches the color of spider mums you chose to use.
