How to Make a Tie Bar

You can distinguish yourself from the crowd by wearing an eye-catching handmade tie bar. Tie bars also serve a practical value by keeping a tie pinned down and out of the way as you work on the computer or eat lunch.

Things You'll Need

• Air-dry modeling clay
• Toothpick
• Bobby pin
• Superglue

Instructions

1. Shape air-dry modeling clay into a bar shape that's slightly longer than the length of the bobby pin. You can make it as wide as you like, but make sure that it's slightly wider than the width of the bobby pin. You can also add decorative touches, such as different colored dots of modeling clay. If you want the tie bar to have a design, use a toothpick to draw a pattern.

2. Allow the modeling clay to dry according to the manufacturer's directions. This should take about two hours.

3. Adhere the piece of modeling clay to the bobby pin using superglue. Allow the superglue to dry thoroughly, then pin onto your tie.
