Instructions

    • 1

Cut 12 feet of 2-inch-wide ribbon to wrap around a wreath base. Choose any type of ribbon, such as elegant satin or casual-looking grosgrain. Pick the ribbon color to reflect the wreath's decor theme, such as red for Valentine's Day or orange for Halloween.

    • 2

Attach one end of the ribbon to the back of a 12-inch polystyrene wreath base with a pushpin; you can easily remove the ribbon to update the wreath with new decor as needed. Wrap the ribbon tightly around the entire wreath base, overlapping the edges to avoid gaps. Push another pin into the opposite end of ribbon. Insert a few more pins into the ribbon at various points on the back of the wreath to create a secure hold.

    • 3

Attach flat-backed beads or gems or faux flower blooms onto the ribbon-wrapped wreath using hot glue. Decorate a Valentine's Day wreath with heart-shaped beads or a Halloween wreath with artificial black flowers or colorful fall leaves. Cover the entire perimeter or just a small section of the wreath with the decor items, depending on your preference.

    • 4

Loop a piece of coordinating ribbon through the wreath for hanging, or insert a wire hook in the back as an alternative option.
