How to Make a Coat Rack With a Yardstick

Place your yardstick over a a plywood sheet, to attach the two pieces together. Use a saw to cut the plywood to the same size as the yardstick. Apply a thin coat of wood glue to the back of the yardstick with a paintbrush. Set it over the plywood sheet and press firmly. Allow it to dry for 10 minutes.

Place two or three metal hooks on the yardstick, equidistant from one another, to estimate where you need to drill holes to fix the screws. Create a small pencil mark to highlight the area on the yardstick where you placed the metal hooks. Remove the hooks. The pencil marker will enable you to correctly drill the screw holes for the hooks.

Drill a hole on each of your pencil marks. Set the metal hook over the drilled holes, turn the screws in the holes and fasten to attach the hook to the yardstick. Fix each of the metal hooks in the same manner.
