How to Make a Punk Rock Look Using Clothes From Your House
Punk rock began as a musical genre and lifestyle in the mid-1970s. Its music and attitude embraced rebellion and audaciousness for young people. Bands such as The Sex Pistols influenced its fashion, which included spiked hair, torn leather jackets and anything shocking. While buying your own ready-made punk rock clothing can be expensive, a cheaper alternative is to make your own with whatever clothes you have lying around your house. With a bit of creativity, you can look like Johnny Rotten or Sid Vicious. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Turn regular T-shirts into punk rock shirts. Make diagonal cuts in the shirt and run it through a washing machine to give it a frayed look. Use a marker to write your favorite band names, logos and anarchy symbols all over the shirt. For guys, tear off the sleeves. For girls, cut off the bottom of the T-shirt to expose your midriff.

2
Make a punk rock vest to go over your shirt. Take an old jean jacket and rip off the sleeves. Make a large patch featuring one of your favorite punk rock bands by drawing its logo in black marker on an old piece of fabric. Use a piece of the ripped sleeve if you can't find other fabric. Attach it to the back of the jacket using safety pins.

Make an old pair of jeans or black pants more punk rock. Either make cuts in them or attach band patches up and down the legs with safety pins. Wear a studded black belt. For girls, tear some holes in an old pair of fishnet stockings and wear them under a skirt.

Make punk rock accessories. Use the ankle from an old pair of socks to make a punk rock wristband. Attach a number of safety pins together in a circle to make a punk rock bracelet or necklace. If you have piercings, use a safety pin instead of an earring or eye-brow ring.
