How to Share iCal With Others

Apple’s iCal has a variety of features, including the option to publish your calendars online and share them with other people. When you publish a calendar online and share it, the people who you send it to are able to see any updates and new events you make or add to that calendar through iCal. Unfortunately, as of the time of publication, you must have a MobileMe account or access to a server to be able to publish your calendars.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open iCal on your Mac.

    • 2

Click “Calendar” in the top menu bar and then click “Publish.”

    • 3

Give your calendar a name in the box provided for it, unless you are satisfied with the default name.

    • 4

Click the tab next to Publish On and then select “MobileMe” or “A private server.”

    • 5

Type the URL and login information in the respective fields if you’re using a private server. If you’re using MobileMe and you are not already logged in on your Mac, enter your MobileMe email and password.

    • 6

Click the box next to “Publish Changes Automatically” if you want all updates and new events to automatically appear on your shared published calendar.

    • 7

Click the box next to “Publish titles and notes” if you want to include event titles and notes on your shared published calendar.

    • 8

Click the box next to “Publish To Do items” if you want to include tasks related to your shared published calendar.

    • 9

Click the box next to “Publish alerts” if you want to include event alerts on your shared published calendar.

    • 10

Click the box next to “Publish attachments” if you want to include any files you have attached to events in your shared public calendar.

    • 11

Click the “Publish” button to publish your calendar.

    • 12

Click “Visit Page” on the window that pops up after your calendar is finished publishing.

    • 13

Copy the URL for your published calendar in your browser window.

    • 14

Send the URL in an email to the people with whom you want to share the published calendar.
