How to Share "iCal" Without Sharing Alarms

The iCal application on your Macintosh operating system enables you to track important events and share these dates with other people if you choose. In addition to tracking dates, you can also set up alarms that visually alert you to an upcoming occasion, but you can keep these to yourself if you want.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your iCal application. Enter your calendar event (if needed) by double-clicking a date in the iCal window and submitting the event information, such as a title and time, using the menus that appear. Click the alarm drop-down menu to specify the type of reminder message you want to receive and then click the "Done" button to finish.

    • 2

Click the "Publish" button under the Calendar menu. This action displays the Publish calendar dialog window.

    • 3

Enter a title for your calendar in the "Publish calendar as" text field and select where you want to share your information, such as MobileMe, using the "Publish on" menu.

    • 4

Do not click the "Publish alarms" box in the window to indicate you do not want to share your iCal alarms. Continue to click the other boxes, such as "Publish changes automatically," as you prefer.

    • 5

Click the "Publish" button to share your iCal calendar in the location you specified. Follow the prompts to send notices to your recipients about subscribing to your calendar.
