How to Get Hard Water Spots From Your Dishwasher Off
If you have hard water -- water with high concentrations of minerals such as calcium and magnesium -- you've got a hurdle blocking you from getting clean dishes, cups and other kitchen items. Even with a dishwasher and a suitable detergent, hard water can prevent them from getting thoroughly cleaned. Fill the sink up about halfway with plain white vinegar.

Place your cups, silverware, plates and bowls in the vinegar. Allow them to soak for at least one minute.

Remove each item from the vinegar, rinse with warm water, and then dry them with a dish towel.

Tips & Warnings
Run a cycle with vinegar in the rinse-aid dispenser and baking soda in the detergent dispenser if you're limited on time.
Run an empty cycle once a week with a bowl of vinegar in the bottom rack. It helps prevent hard water buildup from forming inside the appliance.
Use a rinse aid with each load of dishes you wash in the dishwasher to prevent hard water buildup.
