Create chat rooms that you control with the IMVU social application.

With the IMVU chat application, people from around the world can connect, chat and play games with each other's avatars in three-dimensional environments known as chat rooms. Whether you are a guest member or the owner of a premium subscription, IMVU can be home to a customizable chat room all your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the IMVU client with your user name and password and then select "Chat Room" from the main menu.

    • 2

Select the "Manage" tab and then click "Create a Room." The "Create a New Chat Room" window will open.

    • 3

Enter a room name and specify the number of users -- up to 10 but no less than 3 -- that you would like to be able to join your chat room.

    • 4

Set "Room Availability" to "Public," "Open" or "Closed. Any user can join a public room. Only users who know your room's URL can join if it is an open chat room. If the chat room is closed, no one -- not even you -- will be able to find it or join.

    • 5

Specify a language so that visitors know what to expect. This setting is optional.

    • 6

Give your room a room description and specify room moderators by their avatar names. Moderators have the power to remove people from your room. Both of these settings are optional.

    • 7

Select an image from your gallery to represent your chat room. This is optional. Then select the visible appearance of your chat room, whether it be an empty or furnished shell.

    • 8

      Click "Create Room."

    • 9

Locate your chat room under the "Manage My Chat Rooms" window and then click "Go" to join it. From here, you can delete your room or edit its settings.

Tips & Warnings

  • IMVU users with basic accounts can create only a single chat room. Members with paid VIP subscriptions can create and own up to 10 chat rooms and can whisper privately in chats.
