How to Make Barbie Doll Purses
Every girl needs a fashionable handbag and Barbie is no different. Create a statement by making your own Barbie doll purse. One way is to craft a clutch type purse by sewing together scrap fabric. As soon as Barbie debuted in1959, she was all about fashion. Barbie's purse may not carry much, but this craft is simple enough that you can fabricate lots of different handbags to match all her outfits.

You can also use a cloth tape measure. Measure onto a piece of paper a rectangle that is 5 inches by 2 1/4 inches using a ruler and a pencil. Cut out this rectangle to use as your purse pattern.

Flip the fabric over so the pattern is facing down. Fold down the two long sides approximately one-quarter inch to create a hem. Secure the folded sides with fabric glue.

Turn the fabric horizontal on your work table. Fold the left short side over to the right half inch to create the top flap of the purse. Glue it into place.

Fold the right short side over to the left one-eighth inch to hem the seam. Glue into place. Allow the bag to dry completely.

Fold the right side over to the left 1 inch to form the interior of the handbag. Glue the top and bottom sides only so Barbie can put things into the interior of the purse. Allow it to dry.

A clutch is a smaller purse without straps. Turn the bag so the top flap is at the top. Fold it down to close the clutch purse.

Tips & Warnings
Add an additional button or snap closure onto the center of the purse if needed.
Cut yarn or leather cord approximately 3 inches long to form a strap for the purse. Sew it onto the inside top left and right of the purse.
Construct matching hats or belts with the same fabric.
