How to Reverse a Hoist
You can lift 2,000 pounds by using your hand to turn a ratchet. A ratchet lever hoist uses a chain as well as a block and tackle system to lift heavy items. Once the item is secured to the hoist's hook, all you have to do is turn the ratchet to lift. Ratchet lever hoists have braking systems and are incredibly safe. Once the item is lifted, just flip the switch and turn the ratchet to lower. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Locate the directional pin. The pin is a small lever found somewhere on the handle of the ratchet, usually near the head. The pin is like the hand of a clock pointing toward the upward or lift position written on the ratchet.
-
2
Use your finger to turn the pin to the down or lower position.

3
Look under the hoist and payload to check the landing area. Make sure everyone is clear of the landing area and the area can handle the weight of the payload. Ensure the area is clear of obstructions or debris.
-
4
Crank the ratchet with your hand. The ratchet may catch and be difficult to pull, in the opposite direction from when you lifted the payload. Make sure not to put your foot underneath the payload while positioning for leverage in turning the ratchet.

Tips & Warnings
Do not try to lift or lower a payload that exceeds the weight limit of the hoist. The chain may break and release the payload prematurely causing damage and injury.
