How to Crochet a Front Cross Stitch
The front cross stitch adds texture to a crocheted piece. This stitch creates an interesting afghan, with raised stitches that look like an "X" between spaces. You can use this stitch throughout the whole piece you are crocheting, or alternate it between other stitches, creating a line of cross stitch in a single row down your pattern. The front cross stitch is created by skipping a stitch, then crocheting backwards in the space you skipped.

1
Crochet a double crochet front cross stitch by placing the yarn over the crochet hook, then skipping a stitch and inserting it into the next stitch. Yarn over the hook again, and pull it out of the stitch, then yarn over the hook again, and pull it through two stitches on the hook. Yarn over once more and pull the hook through the two remaining stitches on the hook.
