How to Add Text Overlay to PDF Pages

Save

A text overlay is a block of text that you can place behind or in front of the content of your PDF, which can help to protect your confidential information from being copied and disseminated. Adobe Acrobat has a utility that allows users to add a text overlay to their documents. You can format the text and position it anywhere on the pages of your PDF document.

  • Launch Adobe Acrobat, and then open the PDF file that you want to add the text overlay to.

  • Click "Document" from the menu bar, and then select "Watermark" from the drop-down menu. The Add Watermark window opens.

  • Click the "Text" check box; then enter the text that you want to add in the "Text" box.

  • Use the formatting options at the bottom of the text box to format the text. For example, select the size of the text from the "Size" drop-down box.

  • Click the "Appear behind Page" or "Appear on top of page" check box in the Appearance section to set the location of the text. Manage other appearance options by clicking or selecting the appropriate check boxes or sliders.

  • Set the position of the text overlay by entering the appropriate distances in the "Vertical Distance" and "Horizontal Alignment" boxes in the Position section.

  • Click "Page Range Options" in the upper right corner of the window, and then select "All Pages." Click "OK," and then click "OK" again on the Add Watermark window to close it and save the text overlay.
