How Do I Measure Boys for Tuxedos?
Measuring a boy for a tuxedo might make him grimace, but it will ensure that the penguin suit fits properly. Learning how to measure for the tuxedo yourself may seem a bit intimidating, but it's actually relatively simple. Especially with the onset of internet tuxedo rentals, it will be nice to tackle your squirming boy at home where it will be relatively painless and ensure he looks his best in the tuxedo.

1
Measure the chest for the tuxedo jacket size. Ask him to hold arms out to the side and wrap tape measure loosely around the chest at the fullest point. Add two inches to this measurement. This will be the jacket size.
-
2
Measure for the collar and the sleeve length to determine the shirt size. Loosely wrap the tape measure around the neck just under the Adam's apple. This is the neck size. Measure from the back, just under his neck, over his shoulder and to his wrist to determine sleeve length. About a 1/4 to 1/2 inch should peek out from under the jacket sleeve.

3
Measure for chest measurement to ensure the vest fits comfortably. The vest buttons should line up with the jacket buttons.
-
4
Measure the waist and the length of his leg to determine his trouser size. Wrap the tape measure loosely around the natural waist to get the measurement. Hold tape measure at the natural waist down to the floor. This will determine trouser length. The hemline should allow a third of the shoe to show.

5
Measure around his neck, loosely holding the tape measure. This is the neck measurement and it will ensure the bow tie fits snugly, but is not too tight.
