Troubleshooting the MSDTC

The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Center (MSDTC) is designed to coordinate transactions between message queues, file systems, databases, resource managers and for components with .Com and .NET architectures. It ensures that all transactions are complete and without failure. If you have an error message stating MSDTC is a corrupt file, this affects your computer's ability to manage transactions. Reinstalling the program enables you to troubleshoot it and enable it to work properly.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button, type "Run," and press "Enter."

2. Click "Run," type "Cmd," and press "Enter." This opens the Windows command prompt screen.

3. Type "msdtc --uninstall" into the command prompt, and press "Enter" to uninstall the MSDTC program. Wait for this process to complete.

4. Type "msdtc--install" into the command prompt, and press "Enter" to reinstall the MSDTC program. Wait for the installation to complete and reboot your computer.
