How to Make a Good Wolf Painting With Acrylic

Acrylic paint is a versatile and durable paint medium that can easily be found at any craft or art supply store. Using acrylic paint, you can paint almost anything, including a wolf portrait on canvas. If you are new to using acrylic paint, consider utilizing a wolf stencil to create the image quickly and easily. You can use acrylic paint colors in gray, white, black and brown to create a realistic wolf painting to hang in your home.

Things You'll Need

• 12-inch-by-12-inch canvas
• Acrylic paint
• Paintbrush
• 8-inch-by-8-inch wolf stencil
• Pencil

Instructions

1. Lay the canvas flat on a table and paint the entire surface using an acrylic paint in a background color of your choice, like blue or green. Let dry.

2. Lay the wolf stencil over the canvas. If you can not find one at a local art store, make one yourself by tracing the image of a wolf onto a sheet of cardboard and cutting the tracing out.

3. Trace the outline of the wolf stencil onto the canvas, using a pencil. Remove the stencil.

4. Fill in the wolf image using shades of acrylic paint in white, gray, brown and black, blending the colors to make a texture like the wolf's fur.

5. Paint the wolf's face using a thin paintbrush and acrylic paint to create the eyes, nose and mouth of the wolf.
