Make your own lush wall hangings using decorative fabric and batting. This inexpensive alternative to framed art can enhance any wall in your home, from behind the sofa to a small bathroom nook. 1
Purchase a framed canvas panel from the craft store in the desired size of your wall hanging. You can also combine more than one frame by joining the back wooded edges together with 3-inch wide duct tape to make larger wall hangings.
-
2
Roll out and cut strips of batting to fit from the wood strip on the top back of the panel, over the face of the panel, and to the wood strip on the bottom back of the panel. Cut as many batting strips as needed to cover the face of the panel, side-by-side. The batting should also fit over the side edges of the panel so you can attach it to the wood strip on the back side.

3
Lay the batting strips side-by-side on a flat surface with the edges touching, but not overlapping. Spray adhesive to the face of the canvas panel. Center the canvas panel face down on top of the batting strips.
-
4
Pull the end of each batting strip over the top and bottom of the canvas panel and staple it to the wood strip on the back of the panel. Pull the two outside edges of the batting strip over the sides of the canvas panel and staple it to the wood strips on the side of the panel.
-
5
Measure a section of your choice of fabric to cover the front of the canvas panel and to fit over all back wood strips of the panel. Before cutting the fabric, place it face down on a flat surface and center the canvas panel on top. Pull the fabric over the panel to check for a proper fit. Cut the fabric.
-
6
Lay the cut fabric on a flat surface, face down. Spray the back side of the fabric with adhesive. Center the canvas panel on the fabric.
-
7
Pull the center of the top edge of the fabric taut over the panel. Staple the fabric to the wood strip on the back of the panel. Work your way around the canvas panel, pulling the center of the fabric on each side and stapling it to the wood strip.
-
8
Start at the top edge of the canvas panel and staple the fabric to the panel from the center to each corner, placing a staple every ½ to 1 inch along the way. Fold the corners and staple the fabric on the fold. Follow the process to staple the fabric to each side of the canvas panel.
