Creativity is the only limit with Steampunk fashion.

Steampunk fashion is a relatively new sub genre that combines Victorian, post apocalyptic, American Western, science fiction and industrial steam generation themes. Mixing and matching clothing items from any of these themes will result in what is commonly recognized as Steampunk. With the use of mostly dark or neutral tones and the lack of color other than copper or other metal tones, Steampunk fashion can be accomplished with the use of materials you probably already have around the house. Instructions

    • 1

Put on a base layer of mostly Western or Victorian inspired clothing. This could include long dresses, vests, corsets, cowboy boots, top hats, lace and leather.

    • 2

Combine the outfit with some copper or brass accessories. One common element is goggles. These can be of the welding variety, classic pilot goggles or other vintage accessories.

    • 3

Wrap an arm or leg with a length of leather. Steampunk is also inspired by post apocalyptic science-fiction fashion.

    • 4

Add makeup and do your hair. Remember that Steampunk is part punk, try unconventional hairstyles and makeup that incorporate many dark tones and elaborately styled hair.

    • 5

Add a top hat, cowboy hat, or a Victorian-styled fascinator.

    • 6

Incorporate copper or brass jewelry. Gothic inspired jewelry can also help to complete the look.
