How to Hide the Hairline of a Wig With Stage Makeup

The purpose of stage makeup is to artificially enhance the features of a performer under stage lighting. A wig being worn by a performer can be made to appear more natural by applying the stage makeup to the hairline between the performer’s real hair and the wig. The color of the stage makeup is chosen so as to match the skin tone of the performer’s forehead.

Instructions

Have the person wash his face. Pat the face dry with a bathroom towel. Comb the person’s hair back. Apply hair gel to your hands, and run it through the person’s hair. Comb the hair back from the forehead with the brush. Wash your hands, and dry them with the towel.

    • 2

Hold the hair wig with the front facing you. Place the wig over the person’s head so it sits on it like a skullcap. Push any errant hairs beneath the wig with your fingers. Smooth the lace at the front of the wig where it meets the person’s forehead with your fingers.

    • 3

Apply the stage makeup to the palm of your left hand; if you are a lefty, reverse the hand used. Stir the makeup in your palm with a finger until it reaches a pastelike consistency.

    • 4

Apply some of the paste to the tip of your index finger. Press your finger against the lace on the person’s forehead. Run your finger from one end of the lace to the other to deposit the paste. Repeat this procedure until you can no longer see the lace.

    • 5

Pat the lace that is now covered with the makeup with the edge of the soft cloth. Continue to pat the forehead where the lace is until the surface of the forehead appears smooth.
