How to Make a Doll's Coat Rack

Whether a doll's clothes are making a mess, or you want a new accessory for a doll house, you can make a doll's coat rack relatively easily. A miniature coat rack can organize a doll's clothes to keep them in a central location. Unlike a life-sized coat rack, you do not need to be a carpenter or have power tools to make one. With items found around your house, you can make a realistic coat rack for a doll.

Things You'll Need

  • Cardboard or thin wood
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Utility knife
  • Stickers or paint
  • Brush
  • Blow dryer
  • Paper clips
  • Nail clippers or scissors
  • Pliers
  • Safety pin
  • Tape
  • Double-sided tape

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the outline of the base of the coat rack on a piece of cardboard or thin wood, using a ruler and pencil. Cut the cardboard or thin wood into a 3-inch by 1-inch piece, using a utility knife.

    • 2

Decorate the base of the coat rack with stickers, or paint the base with different colors using a brush. Let the paint dry for 20 minutes. Blow hot air from a blow dryer on the base of the coat rack to speed up the drying process.

    • 3

Unwind and straighten a paper clip. Cut the paper clip to a 1 inch in length, using nail clippers. If you do not have nail clippers, cut the paper clip with scissors.

    • 4

Bend the paper clip into the shape of a question mark, using pliers. Make five paper clip question marks. The paper clips will be used as the hooks for the doll's coat rack.

    • 5

Poke five holes in the base, using a safety pin. Space the holes a half inch apart.

    • 6

Insert the straight end of the question mark into each hole. Rotate the question mark, so the hook portion of the question mark faces upward. Bend the straight end of the hook at a 90-degree angle on the back of the base. Tape the bent wire to the back of the base to secure the hook. Repeat until all five hooks are attached to the base.

    • 7

Cut double-sided tape into a 3-inch by 1-inch piece. Remove the protective layer of one side of the double-sided tape. Press the double-sided tape onto the back of the base. Remove the protective layer on the opposite side of the double-sided tape. Press the back of the base against the wall to attach the coat rack.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adjust the dimensions of the coat rack to the desired size.
