How to Make Your Own Magnetic Badge

Using magnetic tags rather than traditional pins to secure name badges can reduce the potential of damage to your clothing. Magnetic badges do not make any holes in material and hold the badge on the cloth with a magnet of different polarity on either side of the material. You can make a magnetic badge by attaching a magnet purchased from a craft supply store to the back of the badge design.

Instructions

    • 1

Decorate your badge to your intended design. This might be a name tag for a person, or a different design such as a birthday indication. Do not make the badge too heavy that it will not be held in place by the magnet. Good materials to make the badge from include cardboard, light aluminum or light plastic.

    • 2

Attach one side of a magnetic attachment to the back of the badge using double sided tape. Arrange the badge on the material to be attached to, with its back to the material.

    • 3

Position the other side of the magnetic attachment on the other side of the material, directly aligned with its sister piece. Allow the different polarity ends to connect. The magnetic badge will be secured in place.
