How to Level a Viking Stove

Leveling your Viking stove is important, not only for aesthetic reasons, but for proper oven door alignment and efficient burner operation. Since Viking stoves have a nonrigid framework, without proper leveling, the oven opening will lean one way or the other. For example, if the right front corner is raised, the top of the oven door will move to the left, and if the left front corner is raised, the top of the oven door will move to the right. To prevent the oven door from jamming, use a spirit level and adjust the leveling pads accurately during installation. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Slide small metal shims under the Viking stove feet where necessary if the floor is uneven or sloping toward the back or front. This is a preliminary adjustment.

    • 2

Screw the leveling pad under the right front stove foot counterclockwise to lengthen it, or clockwise to shorten it, until the top of the grate support is 3/8 inch above the left front edge of the countertop; use a steel tape measure to check the clearance and a pair of channel pliers to adjust the feet.

    • 3

Place a spirit level front to back on the right edge of the stove. Adjust the right rear leveling pad up or down until the bubble is centered and the right of the stove is level fore and aft.

    • 4

Place the spirit level left to right across the back of the stove. Adjust the left rear leveling pad up or down until the bubble is centered.

    • 5

Move the spirit level forward across to the top front of the stove; adjust the front left leveling pad the same way until the bubble is centered.

    • 6

Place the spirit level from front to back on each side of the stove, and then sideways across the front and back edges to ensure that the spirit level bubble remains centered in all directions. Carry out further slight adjustments to the leveling pads if necessary.

    • 7

Loosen the screws in the slotted holes on one side of the drip tray under the burners with a Phillips screwdriver. Place the spirit level across the drip tray handle. Move the side of the drip tray up or down until the spirit level bubble is centered; tighten the screws securely to complete the adjustment.
