How to Design a Living Room With Brown Leather

When you use brown leather in your living room, it looks formal, sophisticated and relaxing.

If you’re looking for a nice formal yet sophisticated style for your living room, use a base of brown leather in the décor. Brown gives your living room an earthy and natural look that is pleasing to the eye and comfortable for your guests. Just use the brown leather in a few areas of the room, then finish it off with an attractive color scheme.

• Coffee table with brown leather trim
• Light-colored rugs and drapes
• Dark or black furniture
• Paint and paint supplies

Instructions

1. Start with a supple brown leather sofa set as the centerpiece for your living room. Choose dark or chocolate brown leather. Position the sofa set near a window so the natural light can bring out the brown hue in the daytime. Add sheer light tan or white drapes to your windows.

2. Put down a light neutral area rug in front of your sofa set. Possible colors include white, tan or a very light earthy green.

3. Place a coffee table, with matching brown leather trim around the edges, in front of your sofa set. Keep the texture and color consistent: if you chose a distressed leather sofa, find a coffee table with the same pattern.

4. Use dark or black furniture, like an entertainment center or china closet, in the rest of the room. Look for items darker than the brown leather you selected for your sofa set.

5. Paint the walls in your living room with either a shade of blue or green that complements the brown leather, or another warm tone like maroon, orange or red. Paint the trim along the baseboards and around doors with the same brown as the leather in the room, or a similar dark hue.
