How to Vacuum a Leaking Washing Machine
A leaking washing machine damages the floor and possibly the nearby walls of the laundry room if the leak is not handled quickly. Turn off the machine as soon as you notice the leak to prevent more water from entering the machine and leaking out. As soon as the washing machine is stopped, focus on any standing water currently in the washing machine. Vacuuming a leaking washing machine helps clear out the water before it spills on the floor. Empty the washing machine entirely of any clothing or laundry. Throw the wet fabric in the dryer or a plastic garbage bag to prevent it from getting the floor wet.

Place the hose of a shop vacuum into the basin of the washing machine and turn it on. Shop vacs are designed to handle water effectively without suffering mechanical problems.

Turn off the shop vac and empty it into a sink once it starts getting full. Keep checking the reservoir of the vacuum to prevent overflow.

Continue this process until all the water is drained out of the machine. Repair the leak before reusing the machine.
