How to Clean the Head of Epson Nx300

If pages that you print with your Epson Stylus NX300 appear faded or have missing bands where parts of letters or images should be, you may need to perform a head cleaning operation to resolve the issue. When you clean the print head, the Stylus NX300 shoots fresh ink through the nozzles to remove clogs and dried ink. Use the built-in menu options of the Stylus NX300 to perform a head-cleaning operation and restore the quality of printed pages.

  • Push the "Copy/Fax" button on the front panel of the Epson Stylus NX300.

  • Push the "Menu" button.

  • Push one of the arrow buttons until the Epson Stylus NX300 shows the word "Maintenance" on the display panel, and then push "OK" to confirm.

  • Push the arrow button until the display panel shows the word "Head Cleaning."

  • Push the blue button under the word "Color" to the right of the arrow buttons. Wait until the display panel shows a prompt notifying you that the cleaning operation is complete before continuing.

  • Push the "2" button to print a test pattern sheet, and then examine the quality of the printout to confirm that the print head of the Epson Stylus NX300 now operates as normally. Alternatively, push the "1" button to end the cleaning operation.

  • Repeat the head cleaning operation if necessary until the quality of the test pattern sheet improves. Epson recommends cleaning the head of the Stylus NX300 up to three times if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

  • Because cleaning the print head of the Epson Stylus NX300 expends the ink cartridges, you can perform the cleaning operation only when the cartridges are not empty. Perform a head cleaning operation only as a troubleshooting step when you experience print quality issues, not as a routine maintenance procedure.
  • The Epson Stylus NX300 can perform a head cleaning operation only when paper is loaded.
