How to Troubleshoot DirecTV DVR When the Timing Is Off

A DirecTV DVR gets the time setting for the internal clock from the DirecTV satellites and adjusts for your local time zone. Problems with incorrect time on a DirecTV DVR are usually caused by setting the wrong time zone or logging into the guest account with a different ZIP code. You can fix both issues through the DVR's menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "DirecTV" button on the remote to open the DirecTV Central screen.

    • 2

Open "Messages & Setup" and select "Settings."

    • 3

Select "Display Time Zone" and choose your time zone from the list.

    • 4

Select whether you want to enable automatic Daylight Savings Time changes. If you are in an area that does not observe Daylight Savings, set it to "Off."

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are logged in as a guest, the DVR will display the time zone associated with the ZIP code you entered when you logged in. Select "Logout" from the Settings screen and log in with the correct ZIP code for your area.

  • If the clock still shows the incorrect time, your DirecTV account may have the wrong settings. Contact DirecTV customer care. The number is 800-347-3288.
