Sitting on a sagging sofa causes discomfort and even lasting pain, but oftentimes the notion of throwing down hundreds of dollars for a replacement is out of the question. If the cushions on your sofa are sagging, it means that the springs are no longer supportive enough to hold them up. While you can't fix the springs themselves, you can create a new support board to go under the cushions and put an end to the sagging without breaking the bank. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Measuring tape
  • 1/4-inch-thick plyboard
  • Power saw

Instructions

      Remove the cushions from the sofa.

      Measure the surface area of the sofa support frame using a measuring tape.

      Cut a piece of one-quarter-inch-thick plyboard using a power saw and the measurements you took previously. If you aren't confident in your power-sawing skills, you can order a custom-made piece of plywood from most hardware stores.

      Place the plyboard over the old sofa support frame.

      Replace the sofa cushions on top of the plyboard.
