How to Make a Wood Poster Frame
When you have decorative posters that you want to hang onto your wall, thumbtacks are a cheap -- if not inelegant -- solution. Another solution is to place the posters into decorative frames. Although you can buy poster frames from a framing store, you can save money by making your own wooden poster frames using inexpensive materials that can be found at any arts and crafts store. Things You'll Need
- 2 pine wood strips, 1/2 inch thick, 2 inches wide, 44 inches long
- 2 pine wood strips, 1/2 inch thick, 2 inches wide, 30 inches long
- Staple gun
- Sandpaper, medium-grain
- Washcloth
- Latex glaze, clear
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue stick
- Hot glue gun
- Plexiglass, 1/8 inch thick, 35 inches wide, 44 inches long

Place two 44 inch long pine wood strips vertically onto a table top, spacing the two strips 30 inches apart.

Place two 30 inch long pine wood strips horizontally inside the vertical strips. Line up the edges.

Staple the edges of the rectangular form using a staple gun and one-half inch staples to secure it in place. Position the staples to join the wood strips.

Sand all surfaces of the wooden poster frame using medium-grain sandpaper to remove roughness and splintering. Wipe down the wooden frame using a washcloth to remove any sawdust.

Paint the wooden poster frame with clear latex glaze, then allow the glaze to dry for 30 minutes.

Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun, and plug in the hot glue gun to heat up for 10 minutes.

Squeeze a line of hot glue around the inside perimeter of the frame and insert the plexiglass. Allow the hot glue to cool and harden for two minutes before using the poster frame.
