Motorcycle horns like the Voxbell help alert other motorists to your presence.

A number of motorcycles built in the 1970s by Ducati and other Italian companies used Voxbell horns. These 12-volt horns came as a set of two, one for the low horn tones and the other for the high tones. If you choose to restore these horns to working order, you will have to tune the horns manually to achieve the proper tones for both high and low tones.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the adjustment screw at the back of the horn. You may have to dismount the horn from the bike to access the screw. Use a socket wrench to remove the horn from its mount, if needed.

    • 2

Turn the adjustment screw in small increments with a Phillips screwdriver. After each turn, press the horn button on the bike to hear the current tone of the horn.

    • 3

Continue the adjustments until you achieve the desired tone. If necessary, remount the horn onto the bike. Repeat the procedure for the other horn.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wear ear protection when working with horns. Hearing damage will occur if you have the horn too close to your ears.
