Make football streamers to decorate a party or sporting event.

Make football streamers to hang as decorations at a football event, such as a fundraising breakfast, homecoming or "Varsity Moms Day." Give small football streamers to guests at a victory party. Have fun and be creative. For example, create a larger streamer for a high school football team with the name of their arch rival and allow the team to throw darts at it. Make a football streamer for all the teams to decorate a birthday party for an avid football fan. Streamers can be a small, pointed flag or a long narrow piece of fabric used as decoration -- and can be any size.

Instructions

  1. Pennant

    • 1

Cut an oblong piece of fabric to the desired width and length, which may be determined by measuring the area where the streamer will hang. Use fabric in one of the team colors that will be displayed.

    • 2

Use a measuring tape to determine the center of the right side and mark it with pen.

    • 3

Draw two straight lines from both the upper and lower left corners to the right center. Use a yardstick or long straight item to make the marks even.

    • 4

Cut along the lines to form the shape of the pennant.

    • 5

Decorate the pennant with the name of the football team, a player’s name and number, team logo, mascot, school name or footballs. Use appliques or create your own decorations on fabric by using stencils for the letters and designs. Either sew or use fabric glue to attach the decorations. Or, write and draw the decorations directly onto the fabric if you have good penmanship and know how to draw.

    Flag

    • 6

Measure and cut a piece of fabric to the desired width and length, such as 2 by 3 feet. The size depends on where the streamer will be displayed.

    • 7

Add decorations to the flag. You can use iron-on appliques or make your own pattern by tracing letters and shapes from a coloring book.

    • 8

Apply a generous amount of glue to the top 2 feet of a long wooden dowel and wrap it around the left side of the flag. Allow to dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hang pennant streamers on a piece of twine by applying fabric glue on top of the pennant and folding it over the twine. Each pennant can represent a different letter for the name of the team.
