Including husbands can put a whole new spin on baby showers.

Some expecting couples prefer to throw a baby shower that husbands and wives can enjoy together. These coed baby showers are sometimes known as "Jack and Jill" showers. They often exclude some of the typical baby shower games and activities in favor of a relaxed barbecue or get-together with friends. When creating your own Jack and Jill shower invitations, make sure to design and word them in a way that makes it clear that husbands are invited to the event. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Compose an invitation message that includes the name of the expecting mother and father, the time and location of the shower and contact information for RSVPs. Mention both parents and clearly communicate that the event is for both men and women. Arrange the invitation to fit four to a page and print copies on cream-colored, pale pink or pale blue paper.

    • 2

Cut apart the printouts to create four invitation texts from each page. Cut rectangles of colored card stock that are 1/2 inch wider than the invitation texts, using a color that attractively contrasts or complements the color you chose for the invitation printouts. Glue each printout to the center of one of the card stock cutouts.

    • 3

Glue scrapbook decorations to the front of the invitation. To emphasize that it is a coed event, choose pairs of decorations that represent husbands and wives or men and women. For example, you could decorate each invitation with a top hat and a pearl necklace or a boy and girl kissing. You can send a similar message more subtly by using decorations that signal the shower's setting and activities, such as a grill and a flower to indicate an outdoor barbecue.
