How to Apply Settings to Multiple Clips in Compressor

Compressor is a software tool that Apple includes with video and audio packages such as Logic Pro and Final Cut. Its purpose is to allow users fine control over the specific encoding settings of their projects. Encoding settings can be saved, then applied uniformly to batches of files. This allows you to quickly and easily create consistent, uniform file types from groups of disparate formats.

Instructions

      Launch Compressor and click the "Add File" button in the top-left corner of the window set. The dialog will open and prompt you to select a file. Navigate to your chosen files and highlight them. Click the "Choose" button to add them to the queue.

      Click the "+" drop-down box in the settings window in the lower-left corner of the screen. Select your chosen file type from the list and it will create a new setting template in that type. The setting template will appear in the settings window as a new icon.

      Click into the queue window where your selected files are displayed. Hold down the Apple key and press "A" to select highlight all the files in the queue. Drag and drop your settings template icon from the settings window onto the queue. The name of the template will appear next to all the files in the queue.

      Click the "Submit" button in the lower-right corner of the queue window and a dialog will appear. Select a save location click "OK." All the files in the queue will be processed with the same settings.
