How to Combine an MP3 and CDG

Save

Karaoke tracks contain music and graphics, which can originate in separate files. Karaoke track music in the MP3 file format and track graphics in the CDG file format can be combined into a single BIN file. You can use Karaoke CD+G Creator software to combine the MP3 and CDG files. This software lets you choose any song and graphics files, be they your own or from a professional source. You can play the combined file with a wide range of karaoke devices.

  • Download and install the Karaoke CD+G Creator software from Power Karaoke at http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/prod_karaokecdgcreator.php. This application has a utility that converts between different karaoke file formats. Full and trial versions of the software are available.

  • Run Karaoke CD+G Creator after finishing the installation. A checkbox field in the installation process lets you start the program automatically, or you can run it from the Windows Start menu.

  • Ensure that your karaoke track's music and graphics files both have the same name other than the file extensions. For instance, name them “samplesong.mp3” and “samplesong.cdg” respectively.

  • Select the “MP3/WAV+CDG -> BIN...” option from the “Toolbox” menu in Karaoke CD+G Creator. This command opens a dialog box where you can specify your tracks.

  • Click the “Add...” button in the “Create BIN File” dialog box. Select your CDG files and click “Open” to return to the previous dialog box. You can optionally change the output directory for your combined karaoke tracks.

  • Click the “OK” button in the “Create BIN File” dialog to confirm your selection. Karaoke CD+G Creator will now process your files and you can use the combined BIN output with a karaoke-hosting device or with playback software.
