How to Keep a Spring Mix From Wilting
Spring mix salad consists of a variety of greens and herbs, including arugula, radicchio, dandelion greens and endive. This spicy salad is often sold in bags or hard plastic containers at the supermarket, or loose at farmers' markets. If you don't eat all your spring mix salad as soon as you purchase it, it can wilt in the refrigerator. You don't have to throw spring mix away. Extend its life with proper cleaning and storage. Things You'll Need
- Vegetable wash or white vinegar
- Large bowl
- Flannel pillowcase
- Airtight container
- Paper towels

Soak the greens for 20 minutes in a bowl of cool water with vegetable wash or 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Drain the water through a colander after soaking.

Place the greens inside a flannel pillowcase, hold it shut and swing it over your head for one minute. This serves the same function as a salad spinner, but absorbs the excess water.

Line an airtight container with paper towels. Add the salad, then cover with another layer of paper towels and seal the lid.

Store the spring mix in the crisper compartment of your refrigerator.

Soak the salad in cold water for five minutes before serving. Spin out the water with the pillowcase.
