How to Make Paperclip Crafts
Most people use paperclips as fasteners to temporarily bind sheets of paper, but you can also use paperclips as fasteners for hand-crafted clay pendants. Take the paperclips out of the office and put them to use the next time you make clay jewelry. Paperclips are cheaper than buying fasteners from a craft store and just as effective. Make the pendants to celebrate a special occasion or just to hand out to friends.

1
Roll out air-hardening clay with a rolling pin to a thickness of about one-eighth inch.
-
2
Cut out your pendant with a cookie cutter. You will need to cut out two shapes for each pendant.

3
Place the paperclip between the two cutouts, but leave just enough of a loop poking out of the top that you can thread a chain or string through it.
-
4
Smooth over the seam between the two pieces with your fingers. Take care not to warp the shape of the pendant.
-
5
Let the modeling clay dry, at least overnight, then paint it. The pendant is done when the paint dries.
