If you like the look of marbleized paper, there's no need to buy it at the store. make marbleized paper at home using inexpensive printer paper and leftover model paints from previous projects. The key to the process is the model paint. This type of paint is oil-based, so it floats on top of the water. This allows you to swirl it without it mixing into the water. This gives you the marbleized effect when you dip the paper in the water.

Things You'll Need

  • Disposable cake pan
  • Water
  • Model paints
  • Toothpicks
  • Printer paper
  • Clothes line and clips

Instructions

      Fill the pan halfway full of water.

      Drip one or two colors of model paint into the water.

      Wait until the paint rises to the surface.

      Use a toothpick to swirl the paint around on surface of the water. You want the paint to be stretched out into long, curling strings of paint instead of globs of paint.

      Lay the paper on top of the water for five seconds and then slowly pull it out of the water.

      Clip the paper to a clothes line to dry. The drying time varies depending on how humid and how warm your location is.

Tips & Warnings

  • Drain the used water and paint from the pan before adding new colors.

  • Don't use more than three colors for your paper. The paint can become a muddy color when too many colors are put in the water.
