Cursive writing works best for the ribbon monogram.

Add a personal touch to any pillow with just a bit of ribbon. Monogram any pillow with a family name, initials of a loved one or even a meaningful word or phrase. Use the ribbon as if it was the ink flowing from a pen to write the monogram onto a pillow. Create a thoughtful and personalized treasure by monogramming a pillow with ribbon.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the front panel of the pillow in front of you. Sketch the letter or word lightly onto the fabric. Use a ruler if needed for a straight line to sketch from.

    • 2

Lay the end of the ribbon at the start point of the sketched letter or word. Pin the ribbon to the pillow fabric. Work the ribbon around the sketched letter shape, pinning it into place as you go. Gently work the ribbon around curves, slightly puckering the ribbon around the inside of the curves. Fold the ribbon over at the corners of the letter. Cut the end of the ribbon at the end of the each letter or word.

    • 3

Stitch down the center of the ribbon moving around the letter shape as you sew. Remove the pins from the pillow as you sew.

Tips & Warnings

  • This can also be done on a pillow top before stitching the pillow together.
