DIY: Limit Straps
Limit straps are used on a remote control vehicle to help prevent wear on the suspension. Each vehicle requires a different length of limit straps. Measure the distance between the connection bolts from eye to eye to the nearest 1/4-inch to determine the length of the limit straps. Make your own homemade limit straps with 10 mm nylon webbing and D-rings that have a piece metal attached with a hole for bolt connections. This type of D-ring is available at hardware stores.
Things You'll Need
- 10 mm nylon webbing
- D rings with bolt connections
- Scissors
- Soldering gun
Instructions
-
-
1
Measure and cut two pieces of 10 mm nylon webbing 1-inch longer than the eye-to-eye measurements of the connection bolts.
-
2
Slide one end of the webbing through the D-ring. Fold the webbing back over itself approximately 1 1/2-inches.
-
-
3
Turn on a soldering gun. Melt the two layers of 10 mm nylon together. Be sure to melt both sides and the bottom edge.
-
4
Slide the opposite end of the 10 mm nylon netting through the remaining D-ring. Fold the nylon netting back on itself.
-
5
Extend the limit strap in a straight line. Measure the distance between the two connection holes. The measurement will be the same distance as the eye-to-eye measurement.
-
6
Adjust the length of the 10 mm strap to create the correct limit strap length. Repeat Step 3 to secure the nylon strap together.
-
7
Create the second limit strap following the same steps.
