Instructions

    • 1

Comb any knots out of your hair, especially at the hairline, to make pinning and dyeing your hair easier. When no knots remain, comb your hair away from your face.

    • 2

Use plastic pins to hold your hair back from your face, making sure to test the hold of each pin before progressing to the next.

    • 3

Uncap the petroleum jelly, and carefully smear it just below your hairline. This will act as a protective barrier, preventing the dye from staining your skin.

    • 4

Prepare the dye kit, per the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 5

Apply the dye to the areas of the hairline where you desire color, and let it rest, also per the kit's directions.

    • 6

Rinse the hair dye from your hair carefully once the appropriate amount of time has elapsed after application, taking care to rinse thoroughly before touching your hair.
