How to Troubleshoot a Randell Freezer

Randell is a company that was established in 1975 and specializes in commercial refrigeration units, including freezers. Randell freezers are available in both single-door and double-door designs. If you run into a malfunction with a freezer in a food service environment, the results can hurt your business. Troubleshoot smaller problems with your Randell freezer immediately so any food inside won’t thaw or go bad.

Things You'll Need

• Vacuum cleaner
• Warm soapy water
• Bristle brush

Instructions

1. Check to make sure the cord hasn’t accidentally been knocked out of the wall, and that the fuse hasn’t blown or circuit breaker tripped if the freezer won’t run. Also, turn the thermostat back on if it has been shut off.

2. Clean the condenser coil if the condenser unit runs continuously or for long periods. Vacuum dust out of the coils with a vacuum that has a wand attachment. Wash off the coils with warm soapy water and a bristle brush if they seem greasy.

3. Lower the temperature control for the freezer, clean the condenser coil and ensure the door is shut securely if the freezer isn’t getting cold enough.

4. Adjust the leveling feet so the freezer is completely level and tighten the mountings in the compressor if the freezer seems excessively noisy. Inspect the condenser and evaporator fans to make sure they aren’t damaged.

Tips & Warnings

• A large load of hot food added into the freezer at one time may cause the condenser unit to run.
