How to Copy a GPS Number From Google Places

Google Places is a listing service for local businesses. You can include your business name and address in the Google Places directory along with a description of your business and other items, such as coupons. Businesses listed in Google Places appear on Google Maps with a link to the profile information. You can copy the GPS numbers for a Google Place business, in the form of decimal latitude and longitude information, directly from Google Maps.

      Visit Google Maps.

      Enter the business name, city and state in the search box and click the search icon to retrieve the Google Places listing.

      Right-click the map icon for the business to display an options menu.

      Click "What's Here?" to cause the Google Places icon to display on the map.

      Copy the GPS latitude and longitude numbers now displayed in the search box above the map.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also display the GPS numbers by hovering your mouse cursor over the arrow pointing to the business icon on the map.
