In a pinch, you can turn eye shadow into foundation for a costume or special occasion. If you need to have a bright pink or purple face for a costume, or if you just really like how close your eye shadow color matches your skin tone, you can easily make it into foundation. Foundation is often a cream and usually comes in a small bottle. Eye shadow is usually powdered and comes in a smaller pot or compact.       Select your eye shadow. If you're not going to be using eye shadow as foundation for a costume, you'll want to choose a matte eye shadow that doesn't have glitter. If you have cream eye shadow, it can be applied directly as it is to the entire face. If you choose a powered eye shadow, continue to the next steps.

      Pry the eye shadow out of its compact using the tapered handle of a makeup brush. Mix the contents of the eye shadow with about one teaspoon of lotion in the eye shadow compact, a small bowl or on a separate surface. Blend the two substances thoroughly.

      Store the finished product in a sealed container, such as an empty lip gloss pot or an old foundation bottle with a cap. You can buy empty containers for this purpose at drugstores.

  • You can increase or decrease the amount of lotion to affect the color and intensity of the eye shadow.
